Most of the computers do not have a « backspace » button for deleted files. With so many files in a single computer and a long run of time, it is not uncommon for these files to get accidentally overwritten or removed when the computer is restarted. This can cause you to lose your emails or other data files that were just deleted. Windows actually offers a way to view and delete deleted files but being able to « see » them is often just not enough.

The problem is that if you attempt to use the backspace or delete function and you do not get what you want, then Windows will continue to create an entry in the registry to hold the information you just deleted. With your hard drive full of « unwanted » files, Windows needs more space to accommodate the files it was trying to delete. It’s important to note that if the computer crashes, there is a good chance that Windows will try to clear up space by deleting the files it does not need. But because these files are in the « registry » database, these deleted files can still be retrieved from your computer. To determine if you can receive mail but sent items show being sent but never make it to you, open Windows Explorer. Click on the « Menu » button, then select « View » on the next screen. On the next screen, click « Modify ».
