I want to show you a trick that will allow you to Click on the Windows Asx URLs and open them. I understand that when Windows sends the URL to your computer, it changes the format so that it appears in « normal » Windows format. There is a way to get around this, but it’s a technical kind of thing. In order to use this trick, you need to download the Windows Asx Url Decoder. You can get it from the link below.

There are three methods to go about decoding the URLs; one is to download and install a program like Rufus, WinUAE, or Adobe InDesign. The other two are freeware programs. You can find all three at: The trick to it is to find the Asx ID of the website that you’re trying to open. That will be a sequence of hex codes that start with an « A ». Copy and paste these hex codes to your memory drive to encode them in Asx, because it doesn’t show them in normal Windows format. Now, once you have the URLs, you can use the Windows-Asx extension.

Remember that even though they look normal, these URLs are not like others. They don’t use any of the standard features in your browser, which is why you cannot click on them. To get around this, you can try to read the HTML code to decode the URLs. This works, but the best thing to do is look for a good web host that has a « real » Asx-encoded version of the site for you to view. If you can’t find one, there are plenty of free online redirect services that will let you see them.
