The last thing you need is to have to replace a safety button with a faulty one that will also disable your computer. If the Microsoft support staff have an understanding of how Windows works, they can troubleshoot any problems that Windows may be having. What you need to do is find out if your issue is simply a Windows problem or if it’s a problem with the button itself. If you happen to use the safety button to shutdown the computer or turn off your PC, your button can either be faulty or it can also be missing. It is for this reason that you need to use the steps below to ensure that you do not lose the button and can get back to working.

The first thing you need to do is restart your computer, then press F8 to go into the command prompt, then enter this command: « regedit » and in the text box type « gpedit.msc » without the quotes. At the bottom of the screen there should be a listing of all the changes that you have made to the settings of your computer. Now you should find the line which says « Startup programs », right click on it and click « Edit ». You should now find the start up program entry and look for the line « Delete Startup Items » then click on it and remove the string.

Now it’s time to get your PC working again. With the button’s assistance you should be able to use the Start menu to set your PC back up and once you are able to work again you should be able to reopen the program that you were using to open all the programs in the past. This will make sure that you never lose the safety button.
