If you are using a Windows-based application and you want to transfer files from one computer to another, you should be aware of the new XML File Association feature in Windows XP. XML is a file extension that was introduced in 1993 as an interchange format for several different documents. The extension is now used by many different applications. As Microsoft attempts to gain control over its multimedia and business applications, it has made a point of making it possible for other applications to share information with each other.
For example, if you want to use an Internet Explorer application to view a movie online, you can do so by clicking on the « Play » icon or if you want to play the movie file, you can click on the « Open » icon. In the case of Internet Explorer, you will be prompted to attach the media to your application in order to view it on your computer. The application will then load the media onto your computer. If you have an Internet Explorer application installed and you want to use a Windows Media Player application to play a movie, you will be prompted to open up the media player in order to view the movie on your computer.
With this feature of « Open XHTML File » activated, you will be able to access Windows Media Player if you want to view the movie on your computer. By opening the Windows Media Player application, you will be able to play the movie as well as display its info in your Web browser. This feature is important since the WMP application is not supported by Internet Explorer at this time. Although you can open HTML files, when this extension is present it is not supported by Internet Explorer.
