The default settings on your computer to create a bunch of troubleshooting Cached Credentials. This is a big problem. Every time you log in to the internet your computer creates these cached Credentials. The Cached Credentials allows your computer to connect to websites even if you just missed logging on to a website for a minute. In short, these Cached Credentials gives your computer all the information about your log on so it knows that you have logged in and then automatically opens your browser again. If you don’t close your internet browser window right away, this will cause problems with the computer and cause it to slow down. If this happens it’s because there are Cached Credentials left on your computer and they are in place to ensure that the system can continue to run without errors.

Problems with Cached Credentials can be caused by various things but most of the time it’s because of an old CPE file (Critical Path Exceptions). A CPE file is used to tell the operating system the reason why it needs to open a certain program or website again, like why it needs to return to an extension you have just closed. The way to fix the problem is to go into the Control Panel and click on Security. Once in Security, look at the « Advanced Options » and click on « View », it will show you what CPE file is missing from your computer.

You can also take advantage of the Trusted Root Certification Authority. This is another part of the Windows Operating System that will help you troubleshoot Cached Credentials by letting you view the certificate associated with a CPE. I believe that you have to download a program called a Trusted Root Certification Authority before you can actually use it but I’m not sure.
