It’s been announced that Microsoft will be discontinuing the Windows Live Mail Notification service. This means that all of the email notifications that Windows Live users have sent out will no longer be processed by Microsoft. As a result, the ability to notify others about special events will also be removed. The process of getting the notifications set up will not be affected, but users may have to re-enroll if they want to have the ability to send emails again in the future.

To get support for your messages and events, you must first cancel your subscription with Microsoft. For those who are already subscribed, you will have an extended period of time before your subscription will expire. After this period of time, you will be able to send out the emails again if you choose. The notification system works much like it does today. When you receive the email, you will be able to view it on your computer and select the option to « read later. » You can then continue on with your life or respond to it directly by going to the Outlook web site or Windows Live Mail settings page.

For those who are not enrolled in the program, there are a number of options for support and service. You can contact Microsoft and speak to an online technician, who will be able to re-enroll you. You can also purchase the technical support plan, which will allow you to send one email a month instead of sending several every day. Another option is to purchase Microsoft email hosting for other users to use.
