There was a WMP 12 NTLM Proxy Authentication Problem recently when I attempted to perform a user login. The logs showed that the authentication and authorization were denied and no action was performed for that user. After looking at the log file the NTLM was being used for Kerberos was not being used and there was no Kerberos ticket configured in the network. This was due to a serious error in Wmp.

If you see « NTLM is not allowed », you should shut down Wmp and then re-run it. A Kerberos ticket can be configured and the Kerberos VPN configured by running the Kerberos Host-Based Forwarding check and then following up with configuring the NSEC on the server. If you see a WMP message that the Wmp service is not running, you should contact your network support or Microsoft. If you do not see the message in the logs, you may need to contact your IT department.

If your Squid proxy server is running Windows Vista or higher, there is a bug in the Squid proxy that should be resolved as soon as possible. To fix this issue, you will need to set a Windows security policy to block the HTTP protocol. By setting the « HttpProtocol » parameter in the « Windows Registry » to « Block », the Squid proxy can only access files that are being accessed over HTTP.
